There’s something I want to talk about, it’s not something people think about often or at all. We kind of take it for grated these days, but honestly with out graphics, computers would not but as popular as they are today.
In the beginning of personal computers, much of the interface was done through CLI, or Command Line Interface, in where even on Windows, or Apple, the hobbyist computer users would generally be typing out commands to do the things they wanted. NEW DISTRO!
I’m now proud to say I am currently using a new distribution, OpenSUSE!
The change hapend rather suddenly and for no real reason. But thanks to a friend of mine, Nelson Marques, I now have MATE running on it as well.
I also have plans to help him create a OpenSUSE spin off that uses MATE as the only desktop environment, there is no full guarantee on how this will end up. But I hope to help release a MATE based distro that looks appealing, and with my short time using OpenSUSE, I think it will be the best option to do so.
Above is a shot of my desktop when helping convert an icon theme that I created for MATE to use in SUSE. It also uses a modified theme I made as well.
I’m still getting settled in, but I hope to have more to report on the matter.

MATE + Compiz
There is a common topic brought up on the MATE forums lately, and it’s been the suggestions of making MATE compatible with Compiz.
This is something that many people are always asking, why isn’t MATE compatible with Compiz already? [Other Desktop Environment Fork] has already done it so what’s the hold up?
There is a simple explanation to this, the code developers of MATE want to get MATE caught up with other desktop standards such as GTK-3 that are more commonly used by programs being built. We also want to get MATE into a stable state for building applications for it specifically. There is also integration issues we want to work out so that when I say install WINE, or want to edit settings for sound. WINE would show up with it’s own Menu location as in GNOME 2, the sound settings aren’t confusing to understand. These things may seem redundant to others but for some new users we want to make sure their integration into MATE is almost seamless.
So while other’s are shouting for ‘Compiz! Compiz!’ we are working on making MATE just a little better.

It’s a small little spoof I did combineing the MATE logo with Nayn Cat and well, I ended up making him into a wall paper, a Fish applet replacement, and now he’s animated for your enjoyment.

Right place right times
A moment ago I just completed my second icon for a new Bukkit (Minecraft server mod) project. This makes it my second logo I’ve created within the past month. The first was for a new upcoming Linux desktop environment called MATE. For them I created the logo that would be seen on the system info page for their mate-system-monitor package, it’s the Linux equivalent of the System Monitor that appears when you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL.
Below is the raw image I created, I called the image taek-craft cause I have no clue as to the project name.
Start off
A long time ago I stated I was thinking of writing a story based off of my first role play character. Well after much typing, procrastination, and a lot of Black & Mild pipe tobacco cigars here is roughly the first three pages.

An idea…
There’s been a bit of an idea floating around through my head as of late. Not sure why it’s there but I’ve been giving it a shot, I used to text Role Plat A LOT and I mean like every damn day I was on my computer in different Role Play chat-rooms just doing what ever. And over the course of that fun I created basically an alternate persona that I kinda like, called {insert introduction music} Rowen Stipe. Yea, basically my entire internet identity was created from him. But anyways, since I’ve used him quite a bit, I’ve decided “What the hell, lets write a story!”. So ya, I’m basically going to probably start posting “The tale of Rowen Stipe” (Kinda catchy) for all to read. Expect to see it sometime within the next few days, or week. When ever I get time to come up with a good amount of text for a first draft.
SOPA Stance
Okay, so today major sites around the globe have joined in a on-line strike against the the SOPA and PIPA bills being pushed through the senate. My site as well has joined in this effort.
It’s my damn site and I want to do it so piss off.
But anyways, I support the termination of SOPA and PIPA not because I used to pirate songs from time to time. But because it’s basically putting the entertainment industry in control over the Internet. And they would then be allowed to close down regular access to URL’s like http://www.google.com simply because Google images would display some copyrighted image of the Transformers movie logo.
Anyways, I’m not an expert on the subject but just felt like I’d put the information out there and show my support.
